Using a PDF writer to send Death Certificates to a Doctor's Office

Adam Shaw of Shaw-Davis Funeral Home in Columbus, Ohio presented this paper at the Central Ohio Funeral Director's meeting. It met with strong approval from Mark Koussef of the Vital Statistics office.

It details how to use the EDRS system to print the Ohio Death Certificate to a PDF file, which can then be emailed to the doctor's office.

This can save hours of travel time and the idea can be used within TerraPro for any form you would normally print and hand deliver or mail.

Thank you very much Adam, for allowing us to post this document here and on the TerraPro website.

Click on related link below to view the document.

Remote Desktop Printers

If you are using Remote Desktop to connect to a server and would like to print to your local computer's attached printers, this article is for you!

Some printer ports are not supported by Windows Server 2003 Terminal Services. For instance, if you have an All-In-One printer it probably is not supported. Other problems can occur with USB ports, etc. Microsoft has a few GOOD suggestions at the following website:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/302361
Microsoft Website re: Remote Desktop Printers

Click on the link or cut and paste and enter it in your browser's address line and read on! I would be interested in hearing the results of your efforts.

David Haldeman
President
Terradise Computer Systems, Inc.
Makers of TerraPro Professional Funeral Home Software
513-484-9729

Anomoly with Flag Form

David,

Our VA2008 Flag Form has a typo. In the "CONDITION UNDER WHICH VETERAN WAS RELEASED FROM SERVICE" section, box 1 has the word honorable on the printed form, but uses the word dishonorable on screen. I believe dishonorable would be correct.

By the way, the TerraPro to Quickbooks link is working great!

Thanks,
Bill Neal

Editing Doctors, Clergy and other Lists

A funeral home wrote the following in an email:

> Good AM Dave,
>
> On our doctor/certifier list in TerraPro, we have multiple listings for the same doctor that I would like to be able to clean up but not sure how to delete some of them? I thought if I would right click on their name(s) it would ask me to delete them but it doesn't and I have tried a couple of different things but nothing works.
>
> Can you please advise me how I can update our doctor's list?
>
> Thanks,

Here is the reply:

I get a lot of questions about this.... I am trying to figure a way to make it easier.

Go to Envelopes-Labels
Click on Open Mailing List
Click on the Doctors check box to filter just the doctors on the list.
Scroll through the list to find the duplicate doctor
Click on the one you want to delete
The EDIT button will appear (down below the list)
Click on Edit, then either make changes, or Save, then Delete.

Once you are in this edit mode, you can use the Next or Previous buttons to page through the list and delete or make changes.

This same routine applies to clergy and other mailing list entries.

For Locations such as hospitals, churches and cemeteries, the approach is a little different. For these, just right click on the location pulldown menu to get to the locations database, then edit as above.

Hope this helps! You can also check out page 46 in the TerraPro manual - see Related Link

David Haldeman
Terradise Computer Systems, Inc.
Makers of TerraPro Professional Funeral Home Software
